Last weekend was the seventh in the series "Sketch." John Freeman sketched out the life of Judah, and what we can learn from him about compromise, conviction, and repentance.

We need people to help by serving on teams to pull off this new Sunday morning service on MSU’s campus. Sound, décor, welcoming guests, set-up and tear-down . . . we need help in all areas! Please email Troy.Wallace@RivChurch.com.

Musicians Needed for East Lansing Venue
This fall, Riverview is launching a service on campus at Michigan State on Sunday mornings. Teamed up with Epic, this service will rotate two rock bands. We'll be holding auditions for all parts soon. Two specific needs are an experienced drummer and a lead electric guitar player. Email Ben.Rickert@RivChurch.com with your name, contact info, and a little about you, your experience, and musical interests.

Help Needed With Set Construction

Shared Pregnancy Baby Steps 5K Run/Walk
Saturday, August 16, 2008 at 9:00 am at Riverfront Park, Downtown Lansing. There is a $25 fee. The 5K follows the scenic Riverfront Park path so you can run it, walk it or stroller it while raising money for the center. Shared Pregnancy Women’s Center is a non-profit Christian ministry committed to counseling, education, referrals and material support for women facing unexpected or challenging pregnancies. RivFamilies Summer Picnic
We will be hosting a summer picnic at Lake Lansing Park South on Sunday, August 17 from 12:00 - 3:00 pm. Come meet us at the park for some food, fun and swimming. RivKids Carnival -- Help Needed
We will be having our annual RivKids Carnival to kick-off our fall program on August 23 and 24 during the services. We are in need of about thirty people to run games during the weekend. If you are interested in helping during one service, email Tricia.Miller@RivChurch.com.

MOPS Picnic
All Mothers of Preschoolers are invited to join us at Hawk Island Park on Thursday, August 28 from 10:00ish to 2:00ish. We’ll be registering any mom who is interested in joining MOPS, or you can just come hang out. Please bring a dish to pass, we will supply the rest!! Kids' Voluneer Appreciation Picnic
If you have volunteered in RivBabies, RivKids, or RivBuddies classroom in the last year, we would love for you to join us for a picnic at Hawk Island on Thursday, August 28th at 6pm. We will be providing hot dogs, drinks, and table service. All we ask is that you bring a dish to pass.

13th Annual Riverview Compassion Ministries Golf Outing

Matching is an important part of what Stephen Ministry is all about. Those who are interested in serving are matched with the person they are best suited to help. Those who need care are matched with the best caregiver for them. Currently there is an urgent need for additional mature women to commit to this caring ministry. Divorce Support Group for Women
Riverview now offers a support group dedicated to the growth and recovery of women living through the pain and stress of separation and/or divorce. Please contact Linda Lawrence, MSW, LMSW at 517-482-6782 or Linda.Lawrence0@gmail.com for a convenient time to talk. This group will meet on the first and third Tuesdays of each month from August 19 through November. At that time we will reevaluate how to proceed through the holidays and beyond.

Anyone interested in playing in a co-ed fall softball league? Games are Wednesday evenings in Mason beginning in September and going into October. Also, anyone interested in a mens' league in Mason on Tuesdays? Please contact Jenny Chaney if you are interested at Jenny.Chaney@RivChurch.com. Healthy Eating Discussion Group

We all know we should be eating more fruits and vegetables, but how do we manage in this fast-paced world? Would you like to join a discussion group to explore ways to develop and maintain a healthy diet? We'd like to have you. Date to be announced. Snacks will be served for recipe starters. Kick-Off Party
Chaos, Riv's junior high school ministry, is kicking off the school year with a GINORMOUS Party on Wednesday, September 3 at 7:00 pm! This will be a great opportunity for any 7th or 8th graders at Riv to have a lot of fun with jello and pudding, and also get connected with their peers. Michigan's Adventure
Riv's middle school group is going to Michigan Adventure on August 20. We’ll meet at the church at 9:00 am and get back around 11:00 pm. Summer:
Our main gatherings for the summer will be at 6:30pm on Tuesday nights through August 5th. We'll also be doing various social things every Thursday night that will be announced on Tuesdays and through our email group. Email Ben.Rickert@RivChurch.com to join our announcements group or with any other questions regarding epic this summer and check out EpicState.net for our location.

Epic Chapters (Life Groups)
The heart and soul of Epic, our college-age group, and a key way to get connected. Their focus is to connect people to Christ and to incredible community. Ranging from twelve to twenty-four people, they're made up of two to four Life Groups, even smaller groups for building deep friendships and discussing our lives, the Bible and talks at Riv. Try one and allow God to transform your life through genuine relationships!

The Greatest Retreat Ever!
This is something that college students really don’t want to miss. A truly life transforming weekend and a great way to build some fast friendships at Epic. It’s September 26-28 at a great retreat center. The cost is just $70, which includes two nights, meals (friday dinner thru sunday breakfast plus snacks). However, the first 100 students to sign-up, pay only $40! Stop by RivWarehouse for more info and to sign-up.

Mexico Trip During MSU Spring Break 2009
We’re heading to Monterrey, Mexico to work with Back to Back ministries. (www.backtobackministries.org). We will be working directly with orphanages and some very impoverished communities. Because we’ll need to book flights early, we will be signing up for this in the coming weeks. You’ll be able to raise the cost of this mission trip. Email Susan.Rickert@gmail.com for more info.

Connecting post-college and twenty-something people with real community with the purpose of following Jesus.

RivFamilies invites you to bring the family for a fun evening (weather permitting) at the Community Bandshell at Lake Lansing Park South. We'll be hanging out and enjoying the tunes of Frog and the Beeftones. The date is Friday, June 27; time is 6:30 pm. Check out the new “MyRIv" - the place to sign-up for online giving, update your contact info, and coming soon, register for classes and other events going on at Riverview.

This program allows Riverview to raise funds that are split between church planting and helping to meet peoples' emergency financial needs.
All you need to do is sign-up here with our organization’s 6-digit code (370945). You can also get more info at RivWarehouse in the lobby.
There is no cost. You'll receive two plastic Meijer tags that you can put on your key chain. Whenever you buy anything (except gas) at Meijer, and scan your tag, Riverview will get a percentage of the sale (.5% with cash/debit cards, 1.0% with Meijer credit cards). There are two projects happening on Saturday, June 21. The first is an "outdoor stuff" service project for Shared Pregnancy from 10:00 am - 2:00 pm. We will have food. Shared Pregnancy Womens' Center is located at 503 N. Walnut street in Lansing. Next is oil changes for single mothers from 10:00 am - 2:00 pm at Manning Equipment, located at 4214 W. Mount Hope Highway, Lansing. For more info or if you want to meet early for breakfast, contact Pete at bogrett@netzero.com or 517-214-1387.

FREE Oil Changes Provided by Guys’ Stuff
Saturday, June 21 starting at 10:00 am at Manning Equipment in Lansing. If you have a financial burden, we want to provide you with a free oil change. For appointments, please call Mary Bogrett as soon as possible at 517-268-0236. Have the year, make and model of your vehicle ready.

Services Will Be in the New Building This Weekend!
Don't forget, our service (at 7:00ish pm on Saturday, and 9:30ish and 11:30ish am on Sunday), will be held in our new auditorium this weekend. You won't want to miss it! There is still kids' church at all three services. Infants and crawlers will be in classrooms within the new lobby, and walkers - sixth graders will still be in the classrooms down the hallway of the original building and in the MOD (modular classroom behind the original building).

Kids Kamp Registration
Register your children for Kids Kamp! We have more than ten houses around the Lansing area to choose from (see the map down the hall for locations.) There are morning and evening Kamps going on. Evening Kids Kamp is Sunday, June 15 - Thursday, June 19, and morning Kamp is Monday, June 16 - Friday, June 20.

Girls Only
Just a reminder, we will be meeting this Thursday (or the 3rd thursday) at 6:30 pm in room 123/124.

CHAOS Meeting
